Trump wants to have his sexually abusive cake and eat your cake too.
NPR explores Trump’s less than consistent relationship with due process.
The short version for all you busy people out there is this:
Trump raged about poor Brett wasn’t being given the benefit of the doubt (he was, and no one was trying to throw poor Brett into jail). BUT Trump had zero issues with focusing his campaign around chants of “Lock Her Up.”
And before that he placed full page ads to promote the death penalty against 5 men (minorities) who were wrongly accused and convicted during a very high profile rape case in NYC.
Before they were brought to trial, Trump took out full-page ads calling for the reinstatement of the death penalty in the state. The ads called for the city government to “unshackle” law enforcement officers from concerns about “police brutality.”
“The problem with our society is the victim has absolutely no rights and the criminal has unbelievable rights — unbelievable rights,” Trump told Larry King in a CNN interview in 1989 discussing the ads. Years later, the five men were exonerated by DNA evidence, and another man confessed to the crime.
So if you are a woman or a minority…you are guilty until proven innocent and should be locked up. BUT…if you are a the son of well-heeled Washington lobbyists who drinks too much…then you deserve your past not to tarnish your job prospects. MAGA indeed.
